Terms and Conditions for Change&Fly Option

KLM offers you the option to book the Change&Fly Option for a fee. This allows passengers holding a ticket at the Economy Light or Basic fare on Medium-Haul Flights to change their flight once, up to 14 days before departure. A Fare Difference may apply.

1. Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions, the following terms and expressions shall be defined as follows:

"Customer": any individual holding an electronic ticket on an Eligible Flight wishing to purchase a Change&Fly Option.

"Fare Difference": the price difference that applies when the Customer uses Change&Fly to make a Flight Change and the originally booked fare or travel class is no longer available. If the new flight is more expensive, the Customer pays the difference. If the new flight is cheaper, the difference will not be refunded.

"Flight Change": a change in timing, date, or destination of the Eligible Flight. A Flight Change may apply to the outbound and/or inbound flight, as long as both changes are made at once.

"KLM": Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij N.V., incorporated under the laws of the Netherlands, having its statutory seat and registered office in (1182 GP) Amstelveen, the Netherlands at the Amsterdamseweg 55, registered under number 33014286 in the trade register of the chamber of commerce and industry, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

"Eligible Flight": a Medium-Haul Flight, with a KL flight number, operated by Air France, KLM, or KLC that allows the purchase of a Change&Fly Option.

  • "Medium-Haul Flight": a flight with a KL flight number to and from Europe, between Europe and North Africa (Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia), Turkey, Armenia, Georgia, flights within the Caribbean (Cayenne, Fort-de-France, Pointe-à-Pitre), as well as Miami-Montréal and Cayenne-Belém flights.

"Change&Fly Option" or "Option": the option for the Customer to purchase Change&Fly under the conditions set forth herein and subject to availability. The Option may be purchased solely during the booking process and applies to all segments of the booking.

"Terms and Conditions" or "Conditions": the present conditions defining the terms and conditions of sale of the Change&Fly Option.

"Website": the KLM Website, accessible via www.klm.com and/or the KLM mobile app.

2. Description

Customers who purchase the Change&Fly Option receive the following benefit: the possibility to make one change in their booking up to 14 days before departure for passengers holding an Economy Light or Basic fare ticket on a Medium-Haul Flight. Timing, date, and destination may be changed for both inbound and outbound flights, as long as all changes are made at the same time. Any applicable Fare Difference must be paid at the time the Flight Change is made.

3. Conditions for booking and restrictions

3.1. Subject to product availability, a Customer may purchase a Change&Fly Option for the Eligible Flight online via the Website during the booking process.

3.2. The Change&Fly Option enables the Customer to make one change to their ticket. A change in the reservation means a voluntary change of the date, flight, fare, travel class (change of cabin or Upgrade to a higher cabin), but also a voluntary downgrade.

3.3. A Customer may purchase the Change&Fly Option up to a specific number of days before the departure of the first flight in their itinerary. The last day to purchase the Change&Fly Option depends on the itinerary and fare.

3.4. A Customer may use the Change&Fly Option up to a specific number of days before the departure of the first flight of their itinerary. The last day to use the Option is indicated at the time of purchase in the booking confirmation email. After purchase, the Customer can find the latest day of usage in MyTrip under the product detail conditions.

4. Payment

Payment for the Change&Fly Option may be made using the payment cards and iDEAL accepted on the Website.

5. Change and refund conditions

5-A Change conditions

5.1. KLM agrees to make every effort to respect the Flight Change that will take place following the purchase of the Change&Fly Option and in accordance with these Conditions. The Customer is hereby informed that KLM may be forced, for operational reasons related to safety and/or security requirements, to modify the possibility of using the Change&Fly Option. In this case, KLM shall not be held liable and the Customer who was unable to benefit from the Change&Fly Option purchased in accordance with the Conditions shall be reimbursed the price of the Change&Fly Option in accordance with the conditions set forth in article 5-B 'Refund conditions'.

5.2. The Change&Fly Option is personal, non-changeable, and non-transferable.

5.3. The Change&Fly Option is associated with a KL flight number and must be used no later than the date communicated in the booking confirmation email. The Customer can also retrieve the Conditions for the Change&Fly Option in MyTrip, where the latest date of usage can also be found.

5.4. In case of an involuntary change to the itinerary, the Change&Fly Option will be transferred accordingly.

5.5. Customers who purchase the Change&Fly Option may do so only on their own behalf or on behalf of a person who has duly authorized them to purchase the Change&Fly Option for their account, hereinafter referred to as the "Authorizing Passenger". In the latter case, the Authorizing Passenger is deemed to have read and accepted these Terms and Conditions.

5-B Refund conditions

The Customer who has purchased the Change&Fly Option will be entitled to a refund of the price of the Option in the following case:

  • The itinerary for which the Change&Fly Option was purchased is canceled by KLM, and the Customer is not able to travel and requests a refund of the itinerary and all ancillaries.

The Customer may request a refund of the Change&Fly Option via the Website, as detailed in article 8.

6. Force majeure

KLM ne sera pas tenu responsable et ne sera pas considéré comme ayant manqué à ses obligations en cas de non-fourniture de tout ou partie de ses services définis dans les présentes Conditions Générales, si ce manquement est dû à un cas de force majeure, tel que défini ou interprété par la législation nationale applicable. Dans ce cas, le client ne pourra prétendre à aucun dédommagement, recours ou intérêt pour tout préjudice direct ou indirect subi du fait de l’absence de fourniture des services.

7. Politique de confidentialité

Les données personnelles collectées et traitées par KLM aux fins de cette Option sont traitées conformément aux lois et règlements applicables. Pour plus d’informations, veuillez consulter la Politique de confidentialité de KLM.

8. Réclamations

Toute réclamation concernant la réservation, le paiement et/ou l’accès à l’Option doit être adressée à KLM à l’aide du formulaire de réclamation en ligne accessible sur le lien « Remboursement » situé dans le pied de page du site Internet, puis en sélectionnant l’option « Demander un remboursement pour mon option supplémentaire ».

9. Modifications des présentes Conditions Générales

KLM se réserve le droit de modifier à tout moment les présentes Conditions Générales. L’achat de l’Option est soumis aux Conditions Générales en vigueur au moment de la réservation, à moins qu’une modification des présentes Conditions Générales ne soit exigée par la loi ou une autorité gouvernementale (dans ce cas, cette modification s’appliquera également à toutes les commandes déjà passées).
